I believe Giles County should focus on smart growth, responsible spending and creating opportunities for the future.
Invest Wisely
We must carefully evaluate major projects and direct taxpayer dollars toward infrastructure and improvements that strengthen our economy, increase revenue and benefit Giles County for the long term.
Grow Tourism and Sales Tax Revenue
We have an opportunity to attract spending from travelers passing through our county instead of placing more of the tax burden on local residents. Lynnville can become a destination for visitors, and that means investing in our interstate exits — especially Exits 14 and 22 — while promoting tourism across all of our communities.
Prepare for Growth
Giles County has a real opportunity for growth, especially in District 4, which includes Lynnville and northern Giles County. Over the next several years, we must be prepared. With the continued growth of the University of Tennessee Southern and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Pulaski, along with new industry and workforce development opportunities, we must prepare by improving roads, water systems, housing and development sites.
Support Housing & Smart Development
We need more affordable housing for young families, workers, retirees and future residents while also protecting our farmland and rural way of life. Smart planning today will strengthen property values, increase sales tax revenue and help more people call Giles County home.
Improve Quality of Life for District 4 Citizens
Our Richland Elementary and High schools must be a priority for our county. I will advocate for the needed renovations to be placed at the top of the school board priority list. We must prepare our students to enter the job market with skills that meet the 21st-century demands of employers.
Rural health care access and good public services, such as our waste management system and fire protection, matter to families. They also matter to future businesses when they are deciding where to locate.
Recruit Jobs and Businesses
I support efforts to recruit new industry, small businesses, restaurants and retail opportunities, especially to Lynnville. Now that we all have access to affordable fiber-optic internet, we have the opportunity to create jobs in rural areas and support entrepreneurs who can work anywhere. This strengthens our tax base and helps reduce the burden on our longtime residents.
Lead With Solutions
We need leadership that says, “Yes, we can.” Not “cut, cut, cut.”
I believe District 4 and Giles County need proactive leadership focused on solutions, partnerships and opportunity — not simply voting no to every idea. We can protect what makes Giles County great while still planning responsibly for our future.
