Priorities

I believe county government should be practical, responsible and focused on the long-term good of the people it serves. As a candidate for Giles County Commissioner, I am committed to listening carefully, studying the issues and working toward decisions that protect taxpayers, support needed services and help build a stronger future for Giles County.

Responsible County Budgets

County budgets should make sense. Every dollar should be treated with respect because it comes from the people who live, work, farm, own homes and do business in Giles County.

My background in finance and long-term planning gives me a practical understanding of how today’s decisions can affect tomorrow’s opportunities. I believe county commissioners should ask clear questions, study the facts and work toward budgets that provide essential services without placing unnecessary pressure on taxpayers.

Responsible budgeting is not about cutting for the sake of cutting. It is about setting priorities, understanding consequences and making sure public money is used wisely.

Fair Treatment for Landowners and Homeowners

Rising taxes are a real concern for many Giles County families, especially landowners, farmers, retirees, small business owners and homeowners on fixed or limited incomes.

I believe the people carrying the cost of county government deserve to be heard and respected. Property owners should not feel as though decisions are made without careful thought about how those decisions affect their homes, farms, businesses and family budgets.

County government must provide needed services, but it must also recognize the responsibility that comes with asking more from the people who pay the bills.

Opportunity for Young People

Giles County’s future depends on whether young people can see a future here.

I believe the county should support decisions that help create opportunity close to home. That includes a strong local economy, access to education and training, support for small businesses and a community where young adults can work, build homes and raise families.

Not every young person will stay in Giles County, and not every young person who leaves will return. But I believe county leadership should help build a community where returning home is a real and hopeful option.

Support for Education and Workforce Readiness

Education changes lives. I know that from my own experience as a first-generation college graduate.

I believe access to education, job training and workforce readiness is essential to the future of Giles County. Local students should be encouraged to prepare for meaningful careers, whether they choose college, technical training, skilled trades, agriculture, entrepreneurship or another path.

I support efforts that connect education with real opportunity, helping young people gain the skills they need while strengthening the local workforce and economy.

Practical Leadership With Better Plans

I believe leadership means more than saying no. It means listening, asking questions and being willing to offer a better plan.

County government will always face difficult choices. Those choices should be handled with preparation, respect and a willingness to work with others. Good leadership does not ignore problems, and it does not settle for criticism alone. It looks for practical alternatives.

My approach is simple: study the issue, listen to the people affected and work toward solutions that serve the county well.

Respect for Rural Communities, Farms and Small Businesses

Giles County’s rural character is one of its greatest strengths. I understand the value of land, agriculture, small businesses and family-owned enterprises because those values are part of my own story.

I believe county decisions should consider the needs of rural communities as well as growing areas. Roads, public safety, utilities, land use, taxes and economic development all affect the people who live and work outside town centers.

I want to support growth and opportunity while respecting the farms, families, small businesses and communities that give Giles County its character.

Strong Services and Common-Sense Decisions

County government has a responsibility to provide essential services. I believe those services should be reliable, well-managed and carefully planned.

Public safety, roads, emergency services, schools, libraries and other county responsibilities matter to quality of life. The challenge is to support necessary services while also making financially sound decisions.

I will approach county issues with the same values I have carried throughout my professional and community life: responsibility, preparation, service and common sense.

A Stronger Future for Giles County

I am committed to helping Giles County move forward with thoughtful leadership and practical priorities. I believe the county’s future should be shaped by hope, responsibility and respect for the people who call this place home.

My priorities are grounded in a simple goal: to help Giles County remain a place where families can live well, young people can find opportunity and county government works responsibly for the people it serves.
